Off to a Great Start!!!
We are still off to a great start and have done extremely well in events we traditionally are not competitive in, like Nordic Combined skiing. This event is ski jumping and cross country skiing combined and in case you missed it, each skier jumps one time, and then will start the skiing part of the race based on the results of the jump. So the longest ski jump will go first, and then the the second longest jump will go second etc. Our US team did incredibly well and earned our first ever medal, a silver. The top three Americans finished 2nd, 4th and 6th, to have the best finish by any country since the Fins in 1954!!!
The exciting part, is these guys aren't finished! There is a Nordic Combined RELAY where each will jump again, and then each will race 2.5km as part of the relay. We have a great opportunity here to do well and make sure to watch for this race on Tues Feb. 23rd at 1pm Pacific Time! There may be a delay in coverage, but look for it in the local listings or on NBCOlympics.com!
Did anyone see Short Track Speedskating the other night? It certainly lived up to it's motto - "that's short track"! It continues to be unpredictable, exciting and full of surprises! It will be back on in the next few days, and you can guarantee a tough fight between any American and Korean in these races - especially when Apolo skates!!
