Opening Ceremonies

Opening Ceremonies is always a special time filled with excitement and mystery! The staff at the USOC never attends an Opening Ceremony or walks in the athlete parade. Instead, we make sure all the athletes get to the venue, have the right clothes to walk in the parade and makes sure they all get home safely.

I always love to see how they light the cauldron, and this time was a little different since the ceremony was held indoors, but I thought they did a great job of showcasing the native history of Canada and found a creative way to light the cauldron!

Our staff went to a house we will use to host coaches and athletes after their competition. This is a pic of some of the group as we watch the Opening Ceremonies!
